Cool! Adam will be able to perform to people who may not have seen him live before.

OT, but who is this guy Hans Ebert? His last blog seems to have attracted a lot of attention from Adam fans, and he sounds like he’s an “insider”, but is he really? He claims that there’s a “list” of artists who will not work with Adam after his AMA fiasco and that appearing on U.S. awards shows is very important to give the perception of being “accepted” by the industry.

I think he is someone who has been working in the industry for a long time and has had his blog for quite a while as well. I know he has previously been very critical of Adam and basically did a 180 after attending one of the Asian concerts. I have seen Adam detractors use quotes from him to support their “Adam is a failure who was completely overhyped and who is deeply indebted to his label” agenda. Aside from that I don’t know anything about him.

Just did a quick google and found the following bio:

“Sri Lankan-born Hans Ebert, graduated from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom with Honours in Art, English Literature and English History before Majoring in Mass Communications and Psychology.
Starting his working career in Journalism, Ebert worked for various newspapers and magazines such as Billboard, the world’s leading music trade publication and Rolling Stone.”

“His career in the music industry began when he joined PolyGram Music as Regional Creative Director” …
He left Universal to join EMI Music Southeast Asia in 2002 as Executive Director in late 2007″ ….
“Artists that Ebert has worked with include singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado, the late Barry White, Enrique Iglesias, Country Music Queen Reba MacIntire, Gorillaz, Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue and for whom he blended the sounds of Western Pop with Asian and Eastern musical influences and artists. “

I think he’s a legit former studio guy and more of a genuine “insider” than others thought to be insiders in this fandom (I’m pretty sure you know who I’m referring to!), but I believe his expertise was more the Asia market. Judging by his blog, he’s not much of a writer and pretty old-fashioned in his tastes. So I don’t think he’s any kind of expert when it comes to the current U.S. market. Also, I think he’s a huge Casey James fan and no offense to Casey or his fans, but I didn’t see anything from him on AI suggesting “OMG SUPERSTAR IN THE MAKING!!111” and that makes me question the dude’s judgment.

I’m sure there are artists who aren’t interested in working with Adam, but I’d imagine that would have as much to do with AI, his level of success (successful, but not Gaga successful), etc. as with the AMAs/his sexuality. And award show performances like PC and AMAs are all about big hits in your genre. Adam is in a competitive genre and has done well, but hasn’t had a huge smash hit like CTM or Tik Tok. Regardless of the AMAs last he year, he wouldn’t be on shows like PC or AMAs this year.

      Pretty much this.

I don’t doubt that he knows how music industry works, but he hasn’t worked in the US in awhile and his stanning of Casey James is kind of suspect, lol.

Right now, I think he’s just a man with a blog.

Thanks, guys! I didn’t know that he was a big Casey James fan, which I agree makes him kind of suspect. LOL! And in the comments section to his latest blog on Adam, he does say that Adam was overhyped, believed it, was a diva (which led to the AMA and album cover mistakes) and has now been humbled. I wonder how involved he is with the industry now?

    • mariettejb says:

He used the word “Diva”? That shows bias, because no straight guy who stands up for his opinion will be called a Diva.

      Back to ignoring the guy.
