iTunes around the globe

For some reason I completely forgot all about this yesterday (even though I was being really bored and trying to think of something to do). But here, slightly delayed is your weekly tour ’round the world’s iTunes charts.

Rankings taken at approximately 11 am UK time (6 am EST) on Sunday 10/10/10. Only songs showing up in the top200 songs of the country’s chart are included. Green numbers indicate that the song has gone up since the last post, red numbers conversely indicate that the song has fallen since the last post.

Australia 35 80 27
Canada 125 24
Denmark 78 79
Finland 57 15
France 46
Germany 101 85
Netherlands 34/109/192
New Zealand 66 38 26
Norway 171 61
Sweden 116 144
Switzerland 38 200

    Thanks for the chart, lob.

Unless I’m missing something, there’s nothing to be overjoyed about here. Do we have access to the peak for each song?

Are there many U.S. artists that make the Top Ten international charts? Or is it unusual just to make the charts at all?

Plenty of US artists make the top10 of international charts (however it is unusual for Idol alums to do so). There is a huge overlap between what is selling in the US and what is selling internationally – especially in the POP/Rhythmic scenes. But, obviously, more international artists are charting internationally and there is generally also a local flavour to the various charts – this local flavour tends to be more pronounced in countries where English isn’t a major influence.

For example in Australia nine of the top10 songs in iTunes are by Americans (or artists very successful in the US, one or two may be Canadian or British). Denmark is more varied with at least 4 of the top10 being Danish artists and 4 being US artists.

Also, what you need to remember is that in OZ/NZ we are in the climbing phase of a new single and in Europe there doesn’t appear to have been much of a push for IIHY in the past several months, and it appears to start getting airplay just now. So while it is not top10 around the world, I don’t think it looks too bad. And, WWFM did peak in the top10 in a lot of countries (it is still in the top20 airplay in Denmark for this past week, although it fell a lot from last week so maybe it is a sign that Danish radio is getting more ready to switch to IIHY), something you can see on the chart Indy posted here last week.

Don’t know where to post this, since there is no numbers thread, but if you are the voting type, doing this poll will get Adam heard on KIIS LA!

Please Vote For IIHY On Ryan Seacrest’s American Top 5
Adam has finally made the HAC side of the list. Ryan plays the Top 5 requests every day at noon EST and 9:00AM PST. I would love to see Adam make the daily countdown. Please bookmark this site and vote daily.
