    well that sucks 😦

  2. saga says:

Seems FYE is dropping on the OZ chart… maybe just a temporary clitch but I just don’t trust this song…

  3. cali50 says:

Is it time for Sleepwalker yet?!

  4. saga says:

I would wait maybe 2 weeks before announcing a new single IF (IF IF IF) there will be a new single. Let IIHY have a chance to get a more stable footing on HAC first. The HAC chart will change a lot next week.

  5. planetangst ( Studio57) says:

I seriously won’t know what to do with myself if I don’t have another Adam song to track and obsess over 😦

  6. fuzzywuzzy1 says:

So the question is whether IIHY can hang on for #15 on this week’s published chart. I hope so.

OT: HDD predictions based on one-day CD sales are out:

    “GUNFIGHT AT CHART CORRAL
Debuting Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney Duel for #1

    October 6, 2010

A pair of cowboys will go head-to-head for chart supremacy next week.

BNA’s Kenny Chesney album, Hemingway’s Whiskey, has a good chance to repeat at #1 if his drop off is the accustomed 60% or less, with debuting Show Dog artist Toby Keith his biggest challenge at the 65-70k mark.

That’s based on one-day sales reports from those retailer praying to the Grilled Cheesus that business will pick up as Q4 gets underway.

Multi-talented performer/producer/writer Bruno Mars’ New Elektra debut, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, looks set for a debut between 45-50k. Among the smashes he’s either written or produced are Flo Rida’s “Right Round,” B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You,” Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire” and Cee Lo Green’s red-hot “Fuck You.”

Asylum/WB Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame’s Flockaveli will debut with a total around 35-40k.

E1 Music’s Faith Evans, widow of the late Notorious B.I.G., returns with her sixth album, Something About Faith, her first since 2005’s A Faithful Christmas, looking at a likely 23-27k opening sales week.

19/Jive/JLG former American Idol runner-up David Archuleta’s The Other Side of Down, the follow-up to his ’08 self-titled debut, should do between 22-25k, the same as Universal Republic indie-rock faves Guster’s Easy Wonderful.

Pimp C, the late member of rap duo UGK with partner Bun B, is represented by the posthumous Rap-a-Lot release, The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones, with sales estimates of 18-20k

The market was up 6% vs. last week, down 23% vs. same week last year and still down 13% year to date.

No, go out and try to invent the next Facebook, OK?”

Predicted sales for Archie’s CD are down a lot from his debut (~183,000 units). Are people here surprised by the sales of Bruno Mars’ CD or are they about what y’all expected?

I guess there’s no arguing that the song has peaked! Aw sad….wanted #15 for the published chart.

I, too, don’t know what I’ll do with myself if there is no Adam song to watch. I check the numbers first thing when I wake up.

  8. cali50 says:

About Bruno’s numbers. I think, for the hype he’s had, they should be higher. However, I am starting to wonder if releasing too many singles, so far in advance, is now hurting album sales. Originally, the practice was started to get the public interested in the album. But, with KE$HA, Katy, and now Bruno it seems to be backfiring on the album sales. I can understand why, too. If I already have 3-4 singles, off the album, maybe I don’t want to buy until I see what else there is. Seems, to me, that if Katy or KE$Ha had released one single and while the hype was still so high, say 4 weeks later, then released the album, their initial sales would have been better. It’s taken KE$HA a long time to get to platinum, considering her single sales. Am I making sense?

  9. saga says:

Hmm… I think it is REALLY hard these days to get an album buying fanbase for a new artist in the POP format. Rock and country seems to be very different. I actually think Keshas numbers are very good considering Posners, Derulos and Brunos sales. She is an album seller AND a single seller. She is not selling albums like Eminem but as a new artist she is on par with Katy who has had 2 smash eras (single wise/radio wise at least).

Archies numbers REALLY suck though and Brunos is not much to hang in the christmas tree either.

Tipster… we will go crazy without a single to follow!!!!

  10. planetangst ( Studio57) says:

The problem with Bruno’s album is that he released an EP a couple of months ago with half the songs on it, and people alreaady bought JTWYA. The Other Side, Somewhere In Brooklyn, Count On Me have all been charting in the top 1000 for months.

I had no clue he wrote F You for CeeLo.

I wonder if he wrote Bang Bang for K’naan, because that song sounds suspiciously like Runaway Girl.

Man that guy is just limitless.

ETA: HOLY CRAP- HE DID PRODUCE K’NAAN’s ALBUM! I just looked it up on wiki so I am sure he had a hand in that song too.

    • jchang365 says:

There’s no doubt that he’s talented. He can write a mean hook and people love his voice. I think he’ll have a long career.

  11. saga says:

The EP didn’t sell super well though studio. Record labels have a big problem is making album sellers out of their top40 smashes.

    • planetangst ( Studio57) says:

I don’t know saga, I think the combination of EP sales and those singles being available and charting on Itunes throughout the summer should have alot to do with the smaller sales prediction. I knew about Bruno Mars way back at the beginning of the AI season so that was February 2010? That’s how long those singles have been available.

  12. jchang365 says:

Bruno is getting rave reviews and he’s got good promo on iTunes right now. It’s possible that the prediction is a little low for him. It was made based on first day sales, right? He was behind for most of the day on the iTunes chart on Tuesday and only more recently got to #1 there. He does have SNL coming up later too. Still, it shows that even with a #1 smash currently on the radio, tons of hype, good voice, and hip/hop cred, it’s not easy to sell albums.

  13. samantha says:

Holy crap. How did IIHY lose almost a million in AI in one day?

  14. jtfacts says:

Much as I would love Bruno Mars’s music and his hype to go away/underperform, I think it’s a little early to dismiss his album sales. The last artist I remember this many Adam stans raving about (admittedly a small sample and just the ones who admit to listening to pop music by artists other than Adam) was Gaga last fall. We all know how that turned out.

Bruno will get a boost from SNL and a boost from the approaching holiday season. His album could turn out to be a bit of a slow burn–start off a little slow and then stay steady or increase, rather than drop drastically like most albums.

Or it could be that it’s just different for boys in pop and Bruno is destined to be a Derulo/Taio as far as album sales, rather than a Ke$ha/Gaga.

    • jchang365 says:

      LOL at your opening line.

I think it’s a little early to judge too. And even if he doesn’t sell a ton of his album, he has nothing to worry about in terms of radioplay, IMO.

  15. saga says:

We should compare Brunos, Posners and Derulos opening numberrs and how they continue to sell in the next weeks… I don’t even know KP’s weekly sales?

  16. cali50 says:

IIHY is #15 on Z100s play list. It had dropped to 16, so it actually went up one. Of course, it was #6 for a long time. Who said they dropped it?
