by my quick calculations +23 in POP and +40 HAC.

I’m happy! I was honestly fearing a negative update on pop. Maybe it can hold a bit longer and reach a new peak.

Everything that happens now feels like a bonus.

  2. lob says:

I finally have internet at home now, so I can be a lot more consistent with the distance updates (for as long as they remain relevant), although most days I will put them up rather late in the day as I’ll do it when I get home from work.

(oh and I can’t decide whether it is a good thing or a bad thing that I haven’t been able to be around the past few days – geez, never a dull moment, huh?)

  3. saga says:

I am hoping for +30 updates on POP this week. Not sure when we see the new PC rotation but todat we didn’t get more than before.

  4. fuzzywuzzy1 says:

Nice HAC update and Top 40 AI has bounced back a bit, 🙂

  5. jchang365 says:

Oh man, I really want this to go Top 15, but Rihanna is coming up fast. Hopefully, the updates stay positive this week.

OT: Howard Cohen of the Miami Herald and a tough critic, had some glowing praise of Adam in a review of Adam’s concert last night:

Adam Lambert is, by far, the greatest vocalist American Idol has ever produced.

In concert, at a sold-out Hard Rock Live Sunday night in Hollywood, Lambert’s voice was an incredible instrument — pure, operatically strong, rich and resonant.

Cohen wasn’t so impressed with the staging of the show, or Adam’s scripted comments though.

  7. planetangst ( Studio57) says:

I also thought that was a good review and I agree about the scripted banter, but we have all seen the show so many times live and on youtube that I have to wonder if it’s because of that. he also explained in the comments that by staging he meant Adam should have some big screens/jumbotrons because his facial expressions should be seen by those in the back- also a good point. I think this Har Rock show had close to 5,000 people there, so it was one of the bigger venues.

I wish there was a review from Tropicana Field- would love to have seen what someone thought of him in a crowd that big.

  8. jtfacts says:

I’ve only seen the show once and haven’t watched any of the You Tube bits of banter and I still thought the banter was stiff and banal at the show I went to. But I will admit that my opinion could have been colored by the fact that Adam is so articulate and charming in interviews that I expected the same of his show banter. On stage banter is the least important part of a concert so the fact that Adam’s is weak is no biggie.

Yep. After reading Cohen’s interview, I was wondering why someone who is such a natural talker sounds so stilted during his show. Even the frequent repetition of “Ladies and Gentlemen” just doesn’t sound like Adam. But, I also agree with you, JTF — no biggie.

My favorite part of the review:

“Whitney, Christina, Mariah, let Mr. Lambert show you how to really put across a song with feeling and finesse.”

I wonder if Adam isn’t letting his theatre training (everything planned out and scripted) get in the way of being more spontaneous? He’s certainly witty, bright and clever enough to speak off the cuff and be charming and funny, as he’s shown in all of his interviews thus far. I also think that Adam is part “flower child” and truly believes in those platitudes that he talks about in the show, even if they sound a bit corny.

Samantha, what I particularly like about that comment that you quoted is that Cohen is recognizing that Adam is far more than just someone who “wails” at the top of his lungs, and that he’s an artist who can interpret a song with great feeling, nuance and emotion.

      • planetangst ( Studio57) says:

I liked the reviews someone on Adamtopia posted from this Howard Cohen guy during Adam’s Idol run- he really started off not liking him at all, and it was around Ring Of Fire that he started to make the transition to Adam fan, and TOMT sealed the deal.

I agree that Adam’s theater training probably is the reason behined the scripted banner. It will come in time I think, and even if it doesn’t it’s not the most important part of the show anyway.

From Mansfield. Check out the title — this guy really bugs me. *overly sensitive*

  10. planetangst ( Studio57) says:

he actually has been pretty good lately about putting Adam in the headlines. But this bullshit about #1 UAC is so laughable- the song is like #600 on Itunes- The Truth is doing better than that, lol. That’s why all these idol #1’s always make me laugh- if it ain’t #1 in pop, it ain’t #1. IMHO.
