Saga, the Top 40 link goes to the Mediabase HAC chart.

I’m not trying to be Judee here, but this backwards slide of iTunes position is rather unfortunate.

Jchang- I know Florence + The Machine and 30 seconds To Mars moved up on Itunes because of the VMA’s. The other people ahead of him right now are the usuals- Adam usually moves up during the day and passes most of them.

And you could never be judee, lol. Now if you start calling me a sparkle cow or a tard, we’ll discuss!

  3. fuzzywuzzy1 says:

Nice updates, with good increases in AIs. 🙂

  4. saga says:

Lol, jchang, I hope you’re not Judee!!! Anyway, I think this week will be wonky on itunes, due to the vma’s.

  5. jtfacts says:

And soon there will be Glee to screw up the iTunes rankings. Regardless of the rankings, I think it’s pretty clear at this point that IIHY will sell gold in the U.S., but not platinum. It’s up to the individual as to whether that’s okay, good or great, although I think it’d be silly to characterize gold as a flop or a smash hit.

  6. planetangst ( Studio57) says:

After I saw the album numbers on that Yahoo page a few days ago I realized Adam is doing just fine. He is not smashing in singles but the sum of his singles, albums and tour I feel make up for it. He is doing great in all three areas instead of one or two. DeRulo and Cruz can’t say that. Nor can Kesha and Rhianna.

And yeah, JTF- get ready for the Glee shit in about two weeks…..

  7. jtfacts says:

I’ll agree about Derulo and Cruz when it comes to touring, but I have never been crazy about the Adam/Rhianna touring comparison. Rihanna/Ke$ha played a 20,000+ seat venue here and Adam played a 3,000 seat venue. I am sure Rihanna/Ke$ha didn’t sell their venue out while Adam sold his out, but I also bet well more than 3,000 people went to Rihanna’s concert. Selling out mostly 2,000 seat venues versus not selling out 10,000 plus seat venues just isn’t a good comparison to me. Regardless, I think Adam’s tour is doing great.

If Adam can go gold on his next album, without the AI boost he got with his first album, then he’ll be in good shape. It’s that second album that’s key for the AI folk.

  8. planetangst ( Studio57) says:

ITA, but I meant it more of at a standpoint of their own tour not matching their own single/album sales- not Adam’s. i probably should have worded that better.

  9. jtfacts says:

Ah, I see what you’re saying. It’s interesting–are there any women right now other than Gaga who can headline a really successful arena show? Britney and P!nk I guess. Otherwise, touring success seems very male-dominated.

  10. planetangst ( Studio57) says:

Not that i can think of but pop in general doesn’t seem to have a great track record with touring ( with the exception of the acts you mentioned).

The old rock acts like The Eagles and Paul McCartney are the biggies. And of course country.

  11. cali50 says:

If I am reading that POP chart correctly, it looks like 3 songs are dropping right above Adam and only one coming up from behind. So, does he have a pretty good chance of being 16 or 15 soon? 🙂

    • mariettejb says:

Airplanes isn’t dropping very fast so that might take a while.
California Gurls should be passed this week
If Derulo drops a bit more, he might be passed too.

From behind, Rihanna is sure to pass next week. The other songs will likely take a while longer and I think IIHY might have peaked by then anyway.

So I’m thinking either #17 or #16 on Sunday.

I will also keep an eye on Secrets. It is still getting new PC spins and therefore the bullet is higher than it would have been otherwise. Two more updates with new PC spins to go. After that, IIHY could gain on Secrets again.

  12. jchang365 says:

Yeah, other than the iTunes though, great AI increases, especially since we’ve been losing syndicated spins.
