Hit or Miss?

Stumbled upon this song and I thought it was very interesting. It’s Linking Parks 2nd single from their new album (that I don’t know the name of). Sounds like a song that could be on Beatles Sergeant Pepper…

All their stuff sounds alike to me now. It will probably be a mild hit because people are so starved for rock music- ANY rock music, that this will probably pass. And Linkin Park is a pretty popular band.

But this doesn’t sound much like their other stuff imo. It has an Indian sound and a very Beatleseque melody. I like it!

Great song! Not sure if it can be a hit in the top40 format, but good melody and interesting lyrics…gah and this has an almost hip/hop sound..not very rock. I hope they do well. Top40 needs some variety at this point imo…

I am also hoping this will do something on top40 to give it a bit of variety. Good Charlotte is also releasing a single but it is not as good. Maybe with LP, GC and M5 we can see more rock sound on top40?

Ack, please no Beatles (particularly one of their greatest albums)/Linkin Park comparisons!!!!! I’m not a Linkin Park fan; they take seem to take themselves so damned seriously and I don’t think their music is more than competent.

Anyway, for Linkin Park, this song is decent. I don’t think it’s terribly rock however. And since when is M5 rock??? Pop-rock or soft rock maybe. Good Charlotte is awfully pop-rock to me as well. Which is about as rock as Top 40 is going to get so I guess that’s okay.

ETA: I did think that Catalyst song of Linkin Park was interesting as it seemed to reflect some of the electronic sound that’s really dominating pop right now.

I didn’t really mean that those bands are rock but that it is a more rock/pop sound that what is currently being played on top40.

The melody in this song reminds me strongly of some Beatles song (rocky racoon?) but I guess that’s only me. I really like the song, it’s a nice potpurri of a lot of different influences.

    Lyrics — Awesome

Melody — Something missing (lacked power?) — but interesting

Guess — Probably a hit (not huge)

I LOVED Linkin Park in middle school. I can’t believe they’re still around. Good for them.

    This is kinda slow.

And not catchy. Their past hits had a catchy, followable melody.

Is this going on Top 40? I think it should stick to alternative. I would have changed the channel halfway through the song.

Don’t know if anyone will read this but I now LOVE this song. Sirius plays it all the time and I just love the rap part,. Rap-Rock is my favorite type of music, and if it has a reggae beat, that’s just the icing on the cake.
